Award Categories

Micro-Entrepreneur Award

(at least 2 years in business but fewer than 5, fewer than 5 employees)

The entrepreneur* has had principal responsibility for the creation and operation of a business that provides continuing employment for the entrepreneur, has been in business for at least 2 years but fewer than 5, and has no more than 5 employees.

Emerging Entrepreneur Award

(2 to 4 yrs in business, 5+ employees)

The entrepreneur* has had principal responsibility for the creation and operation of a business which has demonstrated growth in revenues and number of employees, profitability and impact on the community or region. The time in the business should be more than two years but less than five years. The business must have more than five employees.

Established Entrepreneur Award

(5 to 14 yrs in business)

The entrepreneur* has had principal responsibility for the creation and operation of a business which has demonstrated high growth in revenues and number of employees, profitability and impact on the community or region. The time in the business should be more than five years but less than fifteen years.

Mature Entrepreneur Award

(15+ yrs in business)

The entrepreneur* has principal responsibility for operating the business for a minimum of fifteen years and has demonstrated initiative, success, and creativity in developing, growing, and sustaining a business which continues to have a significant impact on the community or region.

Environmentally Engaged Entrepreneur

Sustainable entrepreneurship is being environmentally conscious in your business. The entrepreneur* takes steps to reduce their carbon footprint and/or promotes the idea of sustainability through environmentally friendly practices with the belief that economic growth should simultaneously improve our quality of life and the environment.

*An entrepreneur is an individual that as a result of assuming financial and/or personal risk has created personal, community and/or regional wealth.
